About me

I am Tzu-Yang Wang, a researcher in National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST).

I completed my Ph.D. in the Groupware Lab in University of Tsukuba, where I researched how common ground affects remote collaboration, and how to support people to build common ground in remote collaboration. After that, I worked as an assistant professor in Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology from Apr. 2022 to Mar. 2024.

My specialties are HCI, CSCW, xR, and ergonomics. My current research interest focuses on supporting people to effectively and efficently collaborate in face-to-face or remotely.

Project

Integration of Visual and Proprioception Information while Walking in Virtual Reality

Recently, more virtual reality applications allows user to move in virtual environment and real world synchronously. This project focuses on how people integrate sensory information from different environment during walking.

Investigating the effect of embodiment level on AR-based remote instruction

Researchers have shown the importance of body torque in interpersonal communication. In this project, we investigated how representing different level of instructor's body, which contains different level of nonverbal cue, affected the quality of remote instruction.

Manipulating dominance and persuasiveness in remote conference

Unbalanced conferences are always existed in our daily life. In such conferences, due to unequal dominance, only a few people hold the chance to speak, and other people have little chance to express their opinion. To maintain the diversity of the opinions, we aimed at manipulating attendee's voice to balance the baised dominance and persuasiveness in such situations.
